The nine new dungeons

Every new dungeon in World of Warcraft: Forever from level 13 to 60: where they are, their bosses, how to start their quests, and the best rewards found so far.

Forever adds nine five-player dungeons between level 13 and 60, placed to fill the gaps where Classic left you questing alone. Four have been previewed in full; the other five have been announced with their level ranges and locations. They sit alongside the Classic dungeons.

The Hall of Thanes

The burial vaults of Ironforge's ancient thanes, broken open by Dark Iron looters and engineers. The restless dead have woken with them. Four bosses: Faldrim Anvilmar, Plunder, Magmatus and Durgen Dirgehammer.

Getting in: the chain starts with Earthseer Farsen on the hill by Gol’Bolar Quarry, through Farsen's Watch and Nip 'Em in the Bud. Spies there drop the Old Iron Map that leads to Old Ironforge Incursion. So far the quests are for the Alliance; Horde players have reported none yet.

Rewards: three blue weapons for level 9 and up: Calibrated BlunderbussCalibrated Blunderbuss, DeepblazeDeepblaze and Ironforge GreathammerIronforge Greathammer.

Ruins of Lordaeron

The shattered throne city above the Undercity, overrun by a necromancer's invasion of banshees, flesh golems and fallen champions. Six bosses: Witherfang, The Abandoned, Rath'mael, The Baron, Viktor the Vile and Bjork.

Quests: both factions. Horde players get Light's Justice and The Wrath of Rath'mael; Alliance players get Remember That I Love You, Crest of Lordaeron and Abominable Creatures.

Rewards: Forsaken GreataxeForsaken Greataxe for strength classes and Gnarled Necromancer's StaffGnarled Necromancer's Staff for casters, both blue at level 15.

Whelgar’s Excavation

A titan dig site in the Wetlands where the Explorers’ League dug too deep. Dragonmaw saboteurs, highland beasts and an ancient relic guardian wait below. Four bosses: Saltspine, Shadetooth, Highland Horror and the Relic Guardian. It is listed in the game files as Excavation Site: Wetlands.

Quests: twelve, split between the factions, with Dragonmaw Rumors, Open the Maw and Songblade Search open to both.

Rewards: thirteen blue items at level 24. Highlights include Healer's StaffHealer's Staff for healers, HeavehammerHeavehammer for melee and the tanking belt Songblade StabilizerSongblade Stabilizer.

City of Dalaran

The violet city with its great barrier down. Nine encounters run from an Arcane Anomaly at the gates to a Mana Wraith in the depths. Quest givers include the Kirin Tor, a new reputation.

Quests: eight, with Starving Arcane open to both factions and Heart of Disruption on each side.

Rewards: sixteen blue items at level 24, the most of any new dungeon so far, including Defender of DalaranDefender of Dalaran, Renewing FootpadsRenewing Footpads and Violet SashViolet Sash.

The announced five

  • The Drowned City (35 to 40): sunken troll ruins off the Stranglethorn coast, contested by jungle trolls and naga.
  • Krol’dok Stronghold (40 to 55): an ogre fortress in the new Riverglades zone, built as an outdoor dungeon with no instance portal. Everyone in the zone can walk in.
  • Alcaz Prison (48 to 53): the island prison where King Varian Wrynn was held.
  • Blackmaw Hold (55 to 60): a furbolg stronghold in Azshara whose tribe has fallen to corruption.
  • The Shaper’s Terrace (58 to 60): titan structures above Un’Goro Crater, the last new dungeon on the road to 60.

Legacy points from dungeons

The Legacy system awards a point for defeating the final boss of every dungeon in each of three bands: levels 15 to 25, 26 to 45 and 46 to 60. Completing the Lord Valthalak dungeon set questline is worth one more. See the Legacy guide for the full list.
